Work

Informaat

2009 — Current
CTO

Informaat is a Design Agency in The Netherlands that is concerned with the user's experience in the broadest sense. To ensure the best results after the technical realisation of its designs, Informaat developed its own integrated prototyping environment called IPE. IPE enables designers to produce cutting edge designs with the very material the web is made of: HTML, JavaScript and CSS, without the need for any heavy technical skills.

Cornelis is one of the founders of IPE took the lead in its development. Some of Cornelis' values and love for web standards can be traced back into IPE's output including minimalist semantic markup, accessibility, strict separation of style, behaviour and structure afand finally the application of the latest and greatest practices in the field of web standards such as CSS 3 and HTML 5.

Currently Cornelis works at Informaat as CTO.

Flexyz

2001 — 2006
Lead graphic engineering and interaction design

Flexyz is a privately held firm that focusses on delivery of bespoke database and web-based enterprise solutions. At Flexyz, Cornelis designed, developed and coordinated for several highly successful custom software projects.

  • Consulted developed and handed-over websites and intranets for companies as diverse as Kwikfit, the healthcare industry, Bovag and Dutch ministry of justice
  • Standardised development and deployment technologies
  • Designed and developed a content management system

ROC De Amerlanden

1998 — 2001
Interaction designer

Worked for the adult education departement of a regional education institute in The Netherlands. Most noticable achievements:

  • Research & Development for remote and computer aided instruction and telecommuting projects
  • Helped to further develop ROC De Amerlanden’s corporate style
  • Taught masterclasses in webbuilding (Macromedia Flash)
  • Helped to develop advanced user interfaces for remote education and instruction software, such as Dutch as a second language and Microsoft Certified Training programs

Langtry Associates

1996 — 1997
3D Modeler and web designer

Langtry associates is specialised in the design and production of computer graphics, 2-D/3-D animation for film and video, multi- media and print.

  • 3D Modeling for the pilot of a feature animation film
  • Developed a number of web sites to improve the external communication of Langtry and Langtry’s business partners
